Vintage Military Matches
2005 Tournament Standings The Club will be conducting six Vintage Military Rifle & Handgun Matches during 2005 on
19 Mar, 16 April, 18 June, 16 July, 17 Sept and 15 Oct, all held at the Lower Rifle & Pistol Range.
Signup begins at 1:00P.M. and ends at 2:00P.M. Matches begin immediately upon completion of Black Powder Cartridge Rifle and Revolver Match. Spectators and shooters of all abilities are welcome. Eye and Ear protection are required. Entry fee of $5 rifle and $5 pirtol.
Firearms will be rifles and handguns in centerfire calibers, either original or replicas, adopted for use by any army, navy, or military service prior to 1948, in as issued condition. Match officials will certify correctness from W.B. Smith's Small Arms of the World, other reference works, or match directors' knowledge.
Course of fire is standing 10 shots 10 minutes, with three targets being fired in Rifle and three in Handgun. Rifle will be shot at 100 yards and Handgun at 25 yards. Top possible score will be 300-30x in Rifle and the same in Handgun. Highest possible combined aggregate will be 600-60x. Due to time constraints, there will not be a sight-in period.
After each target is fired, competitors will go downrange, score the target to their left, and sign it as scorer. The shooter will verify the scorer's tally and sign his target as shooter and turn in to the scoring desk. Results will be posted as soon as possible on the Club website and bulletin board.
The Club will have its M1 Garands and M1 Carbine available for rent at $5 each and 30-06 and M1 carbine ammo for match use only at $4.50 per 30 rounds. Open bolt indicators are required. If you don't own one, you may purchase one from the the Club for $3.00.
Competitors will be allowed to utilize their own target frames if they do not interfere with the match or other shooters. The pursose of this match is to promote shooting skills and interest in military weapons prior to 1948. This match will attempt to bring an inclusive shooting experience to both competitors and spectators.
