6th Annual Catfish Derby

(printable flyer) On Saturday, June 11th, 2005, the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club will host its 6TH Annual Catfish Derby at the club's pond located at 4280 Reservoir Road in Kingsport.

The Derby is open to the first (100) children ages 4 to 12. Children must have adult supervision and will need to bring their own fishing equipment and bait (chicken liver and power baits work best). Registration/check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m, fishing will be from 9:00 until 11:00 with lunch being served at 11:30. Every child will be presented with a Participation Ribbon and Awards will be made to the boy and girl for the first fish caught, the heaviest fish caught, and the first limit of three fish.

Starting at 12:15 the Bays Mountain Longbeards Chapter of the NWTF, in observation of Young Jakes Day will offer turkey calling demonstrations and the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club's Youth Civilian Marksmanship Program will provide an opportunity for supervised instruction with both .22 cal. rifles and small gauge shotguns. Drawings for door prizes will be held following the conclusion of all scheduled activities.
